Knowledge Synthesis: Understanding the perspectives
of dementia-care workers

The GMRU has recently received a grant from the CIHR to complete a one year meta-ethnography of the topic “dementia care workers' perspectives on the challenges, barriers and rewards to providing long term care.”

Our topic seeks to understand these issues from the perspective of the workers, and therefore we will be using a qualitative approach. Qualitative research concerns itself with how people understand and view their world, and our main objective in this synthesis involves understanding how the dementia care workers perceive the work they do.

Partnering with us are groups from long term care, Mount Saint Vincent University,  the Nova Scotia Department of Health, and Capital District Health Authority.

The work is expected to be completed on this project in early 2011 and results will be made available on this website.
